Customized Email Address – Why You Need One
For the past several years we have worked with many different types of businesses and if there is one thing that still surprises me it is that lack of businesses using a customized email address.
Creating a customized email address for your business can provide a lot of benefits.
You may be asking “What is a customized email address?” To put it simply, it is an email address that ends in your company’s website URL. For example, all of our customized email addresses end with @genexmarketing.com. We have info@ that is our general address, chris@ that comes to me (Chris Botterill) and billing@ that handles billing inquiries and invoicing. We can create more as required.

- @yourdomain.com is typically your business name! What easier way to brand and show people your professionalism then by using your own business name in a customized email address.
- With a customized email address you can move your email hosting to whatever provider you want. I prefer using Google’s email server tied into Google Apps – if you are a penny pincher they have a free version too!
- If you have employees and they use their own personal emails, what do you do when they leave? With a customized email address your business will always be in control over the addresses and will never lose contacts and emails if an employee leaves.
- Ability to alias, forward and auto responses: because customized email addresses can be hosted anywhere, you have virtually unlimited ability to manage how and what email addresses are in use. Customized email addresses can be feature rich!
- Distribution lists can also be created using customized email addresses; this allows you to have one email address that forwards emails two or more people in or outside your organization.
The bottom line is that if you are in business using an @gmail.com or @yourisp.com email address you are missing out on tons of opportunity to make your life easier, and look more professional in the process.
